The ABC's 7.30 Political Editor Laura Tingle is leaving the current affairs program after six years to take up a new position as Global Affairs Editor, the broadcaster has announced. ABC chair calls for return of China correspondent Kim Williams says the ABC is "eager to restore" a bureau in Beijing after the last correspondent was forced to leave in 2020. The ABC's choice of Tingle, a respected political journalist of more than 40 years, comes after ABC Chair Kim Williams spoke on the importance of the ABC's continued international coverage.
