Markapuram collector M. Vijaya Sunitha has directed officials to ensure the safe evacuation of people from villages in the Veligonda project’s submergence area ahead of the scheduled water release trial run on August 22.
Reviewing rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) arrangements with district officials at the Markapuram Collectorate on Wednesday, the Collector directed officials to carry out the evacuation without pressure or confrontation and in a cordial atmosphere.
Vijaya Sunitha directed officials to submit daily progress reports on R&R colonies and complete essential facilities, including drinking water, electricity and roads, on a priority basis.
She also directed officials to take precautionary measures to prevent difficulties during the relocation process.
Joint Collector P. Srinivasulu, RDO Venkata Sivaramireddy and officials from RWS, Transport, Mining, DWMA, Agriculture, Education and other departments attended the meeting.
