Madurai City Police on Wednesday arrested former Village Assistant Officer A. Arasan, 54, in connection with the illegal registration of trust land serving the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. He is the fifth accused to be arrested in this case involving 1.79 acres of land in the city. The Central Crime Branch, which is investigating the case, arrested Arasan after his bail petition was dismissed. Earlier, a former Tahsildar K. Anbalagan was arrested in connection with the case.
