Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has promised that a flyover will be constructed at Saravanampatti junction, rather than taking up just at-grade improvements, said Coimbatore MP Ganapathi P. Rajkumar on Wednesday (August 12) after meeting the Union Minister in New Delhi.
I gave a request to the Minister seeking a flyover at the junction and the Minister said it will be done,” Mr. Rajkumar told The Hindu.
However, the Chennai Metro Rail planned to introduce metro rail on Sathyamangalam road, and it was decided that the flyover project would be dropped and at-grade improvements would be taken up at ₹12 crore.
Now that the Coimbatore metro rail project has been rejected by the Centre, and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to take up the Sathyamangalam Road work, the flyover project should be revived, he said.
It will be ideal to have a flyover at the junction rather than just improving the existing road.
