The Coimbatore Corporation has proposed an ₹824-crore underground sewerage project covering Kalapatti, parts of Vilankurichi, and parts of Saravanampatti, with an 411-km sewer network planned for nine wards. The proposed sewerage network will comprise 411 km of pipelines and 15,777 manholes. The collected sewage will be transported to a proposed sewage treatment plant at Ondipudur. At present, underground sewerage works are under way in four packages covering different parts of the city. “Once this project is taken up and completed, the entire city will be connected to the underground sewerage system.
