West Bengal's government-backed mobility platform Yatri Sathi has launched an app-based air-conditioned shuttle service, marking its foray into scheduled office commute transport. The service currently operates on pilot routes connecting Serampore and Barrackpore with Sector V, New Town and Sonarpur, Kolkata's information technology hub. The government platform plans to scale operations significantly over the coming months, targeting around 100 shuttle trips daily across Kolkata within three months. Passengers can reserve seats through the Yatri Sathi app by selecting the Premium Shuttle option, choosing boarding and destination points, and paying via UPI. Yatri Sathi, overseen by the West Bengal government's Department of Information Technology and Electronics, already offers taxi, bike taxi, and bus tracking services across multiple cities in the state.
