A high-level committee set up by the Union Home Ministry to examine demographic shifts across the country toured the Jagti township housing displaced Kashmiri Pandits and a Rohingya settlement in Jammu's Narwal locality on Tuesday (11 August), besides holding interactions with several delegations. "The panel visited a slum of Rohingya immigrants in Narwal area and met several delegations, including representatives of the Gurkha community and refugees from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK)," an official said. Director Census Operations, Amit Sharma said, "The high-powered panel visited Jagti satellite township of Kashmiri Pandits where it met the community representatives. The panel also visited a Rohingya settlement in Narwal area." At Jagti in Nagrota, the members spent close to an hour in discussions before moving to the Narwal settlement.
