Karkidaka Vavu: Hundreds offer ‘bali tharpanam’ at Aluva in Kerala’s Ernakulam

Hundreds converged on the Aluva manappuram in Ernakulam, Kerala, to offer ‘bali tharpanam’ (paying obeisance to their ancestors) on the occasion of ‘Karkidaka Vavu’ on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and the district administration along with the Aluva municipality authorities had made elaborate arrangements for bali tharpanam.
Kochi Metro operated special services for those visiting Aluva.
The bali tharpanam rituals were also held in Chelamattom Sree Krishna Temple near Perumbavoor.
KSRTC had operated special services from its Perumbavoor and Angamaly depots.
