HYDERABAD: The government has stepped up implementation of the India AI Governance Guidelines, with ministries and sectoral regulators working on roadmaps based on the framework’s guidance for industry and regulators. Released under the IndiaAI Mission in late 2025, the guidelines advocate a “light-touch”, risk-based approach to AI governance, balancing innovationwith accountability. For Telangana, the guidelines coincide with the state’s AI strategy and plans to establish the Telangana AI Innovation Hub (TAIH) as a “global proving ground” for applied AI in healthcare, agriculture, urban governance and public services. Hyderabad already has T-Hub, T-AIM and IIIT-H’s CIE, while the proposed AI City is also part of the state’s AI initiatives. Experts said these facilities could be used to pilot principles contained in the national guidelines before wider implementation.
