The election for the post of Speaker in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Chairperson of the Karnataka Legislative Council has been notified for Friday. Patil and Saleem Ahmed as its choice for the posts of Speaker and Chairperson, respectively. The Speaker’s post fell vacant after U.T. Khader resigned and was inducted into the Cabinet, while the post of Council Chairman fell vacant following the resignation of senior member Basavaraj Horatti. Jayachandra has been appointed Pro-tem Speaker and Puttanna Pro-tem Chairperson until a new Speaker and Chairperson are elected.
