RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh government is planning to build 109 martyrs memorials across Bastar in the state to pay tribute to the security personnel who laid their lives in combating the Left wing Extremism in the tribal belt. According to an official spokesman here, the proposed martyrs’ memorials are planned to be built at places where major encounters between Maoists and security forces had taken place in Bastar, leading to martyrdom of jawans, and the native villages of the slain jawans. The memorials will have QR Codes highlighting details about the incidents and jawans slain to preserve the tales of the valour of the security personnel who sacrificed their life to free Bastar of Naxal menace, for posterity, officials said. The state government has also decided to name schools, important squares and government buildings under the security personnel martyred in anti-Naxal operations in the past 26 years since formation of Chhattisgarh in November, 2000. Mr. Sharma also reviewed the implementation of government schemes provided to the families of slain jawans such as providing government jobs on compassionate ground.
