The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (August 11, 2026) passed the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, which provides for the establishment of the ‘National Tribunals Commission’ (NTC).
The Opposition members had not participated in the discussion on the Bill as they walked out demanding that Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge be allowed to speak in the Upper House.
He said the setting up of the National Tribunal Commission was the core of this Bill.
Maintaining that tribunals play a complementary role to ensure speedy justice, the Minister assured the House that the Bill would not bring any changes in the jurisdiction of tribunals.
The Opposition members raised slogans that Mr. Kharge must be allowed to speak.
