India is committed to safeguarding its national interests and will take all necessary measures after the tripartite Mecca Joint Defence Agreement was sealed last Friday (August 7, 2026) among Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. “Regarding this agreement, we are examining its implications both from the perspective of India’s national security and considerations of regional peace and stability. India remains fully committed to safeguarding its national interests and will take all necessary measures in this regard,” said Mr. Jaiswal in response to a question. A Turkish diplomatic source had described the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as a “defence-oriented partnership that does not target any country”. “It seeks to strengthen commitments to preserving regional and global peace, stability and prosperity through burden-sharing and collective security,” said the Turkish source.
