Russian developers have created a specialized database to systematically collect and analyze the status of patients following gastric surgeries. The tool is designed to study long-term consequences of surgical treatment and identify patterns that often remain undetected during standard medical observations. Gastroenterologist Sergey Danilov noted that such databases bridge the gap between clinical trials and real-world practice. He stated that while clinical trials use strict criteria, this database includes a full spectrum of patients with varying resection volumes and comorbidities. This clinical tool complements broader trends in data collection, such as a global database of 43 food groups from 1990-2020 presented in Nature Food in July 2026.
