OSAKA - Osaka Prefectural Police searched an office linked to the Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, on July 29 as part of an investigation into suspected receipt of money obtained through special fraud.
The search targeted the office of a direct affiliate of the Sixth Yamaguchi-gumi, a designated organized crime group, following the arrest of a 51-year-old gang member on suspicion of violating the Organized Crime Punishment Act.
Police officers arriving at the office repeatedly called for those inside to open the door, but initially received no response.
About five minutes after police began demanding entry, there was still no response from inside the office.
Police are investigating the suspected flow of proceeds from special fraud and the possible involvement of organized crime.
