Expressing support for the ongoing protest by affected property owners along the road-widening stretch in Karkhana, Secunderabad, he said that since residents were cooperating with the project, they deserved compensation that reflected the true market value of their properties.
Mr. Rao said the compensation package should be revised on the lines of the enhanced compensation provided in the Thumkunta area.
He further alleged that “anti-national slogans”, including demands for “Azadi” for Kashmir, were raised during the protest.
Drawing a contrast with protests in Jharkhand, Mr. Rao claimed that students there were carrying out a “peaceful and disciplined agitation without resorting to abusive language”.
He alleged that the Congress-JMM government was subjecting these students to repression despite the nature of their protest.
