HYDERABAD: Children requiring heart surgery can avail themselves of free cardiac surgeries at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims), with the programme scheduled to begin from August 13 and to be continued for a week. Nims has been conducting the free paediatric cardiac surgery programme every year for five years. Nims director Prof. Rahul Devraj told Deccan Chronicle that three such camps had been conducted were 60 children had undergone heart surgeries performed by the London-based team. After the required investigations and medical evaluation, children found to require surgery will be provided the procedure free of cost.
