The BJP and Shiv Sena also failed to turn the anger after 26/11 into a broader electoral challenge to the Congress-NCP. In February 2008, Maharashtra's electoral map was redrawn for the first time since 1976, under the exercise of delimitation. These 46 tehsils went into 98 destinations across 83 distinct constituencies, some seats receiving pieces from more than one cut.
