The Kochi Outer Ring Road (ORR) project has is moving closer to implementation, with the Centre beginning the formal process of acquiring land for the 49.5 km corridor between Angamaly and Aroor.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has appointed officials to oversee land acquisition under Section 3(A) of the National Highways Act, 1956.
The earlier Angamaly-Kundannoor bypass project could not progress after the land acquisition process lapsed after the land survey and issuance of 3D notification were not completed within a year.
Once the preliminary administrative work is completed, acquisition notices will be served on affected landowners, allowing the project to move towards construction.
The revised alignment will begin near Aroor on the Alappuzha border, requiring land acquisition in Kumbalam and Aroor for the 6 km extension.
