The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Punjab's Kapurthala is preparing to turn out its maiden 20-coach Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rake meant for Bangladesh Railway, Indian Express reported. These coaches form part of a 2024 order placed with RITES for 200 broad-gauge passenger coaches across seven distinct variants. In an official statement, the Ministry of Railways said the first set of 20 LHB broad-gauge passenger coaches for Bangladesh Railway would be rolled out from the Kapurthala facility shortly. Back in April, Bangladesh Railway Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam told his country's Parliament that Bangladesh would bring in 200 broad-gauge passenger coaches from India. Previously, RITES Limited had handed over 120 broad-gauge LHB passenger coaches, 36 broad-gauge locomotives and 10 metre-gauge locomotives to Bangladesh Railway.
