Kolkata Metro's Purple Line reached a significant landmark on Tuesday when the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) 'Divya' broke through between Khidderpore and Victoria station, Indian Express reported. The development marks the finishing of the second underground tunnel linking Khidderpore and Victoria along the Joka-Esplanade Metro Corridor. TBM 'Divya' wrapped up its 1.72-km tunnelling run from Khidderpore to Victoria. With both tunnel drives now finished, construction on the underground portion of the Purple Line has advanced a further step. In a statement, the Ministry of Railways said TBM 'Divya' successfully accomplished the breakthrough at Victoria Metro Station.
