Hyderabad:The July rainfall may have helped the state make up some of the monsoon season deficit till the end of the month, but appears to have done little for adding to the ground water levels. The state average groundwater depth, which was at 9.46 metres below ground level (MGBL) at the end of June, rose marginally to 9.48 MGBL at the end of July. Eleven districts recorded a slight upward trend in groundwater levels, while in the rest of the 22 districts the levels have fallen. According to the state ground water department, July’s groundwater level of 9.48 MGBL was more than the 8.37 MBBL in the same month last year. The rest of the districts only saw a marginal improvement in groundwater levels.
