Hyderabad:Underground Maoist leader Kakarala Samatha alias Madhavi surrendered to DGP C.V. Anand on Monday. Samatha was stated a senior ideologue and state committee member handling women's issues and intelligence propaganda in urban areas. As per Telangana's rehabilitation policy, the police handed her a cheque of Rs 20 lakh and interim relief of Rs 25,000. The statement said 265 Maoist cadres had surrendered in Telangana so far this year. Only three active underground cadres from Telangana are currently operating in different formations of the CPI (Maoist) outside the state.
