State-owned Gujarat Energy Ltd (formerly Gujarat Gas Ltd) reported a 70 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit in the June quarter to ₹999 crore from the same quarter a year ago. The performance was aided by a strong growth across the company’s city gas distribution (CGD) and gas trading businesses. Consolidated revenue from operations rose 62 per cent to ₹9,771 crore while the CGD vertical rose 90 per cent during the quarter. The power-generation business, however, remained a drag, with its top line declining 42 per cent during the quarter. Shares of Gujarat Energy ended 3.25 per cent higher at ₹274.40 on the BSE on Tuesday.
