According to Adecco India, the estimated requirement for temporary and gig workers could reach 2.5–2.7 lakh this festive season, compared with around 2.16 lakh last year. Demand is expected to be broad-based, with logistics, last-mile delivery and BFSI among the strongest hiring segments, where demand could rise by around 30 per cent. “Festive hiring for temporary and gig workers is expected to grow by 15–20 per cent compared with last year. However, the broader gig workforce is expected to continue expanding rapidly. Balasubramaniam A, Senior Vice President, TeamLease, said India’s organised gig workforce currently stands at about 1.2 crore and could double to 2.4 crore by 2030, implying a CAGR of around 20 per cent.
