TRINIDAD - West Indies maintained control on the opening day of the second and final Test against Pakistan de-spite a spirited bowling response from the visitors, reaching 165-4 at tea at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on Sunday.
Pakistan made early inroads but struggled to contain the hosts’ scoring rate as West Indies batters produced a composed recovery after losing four wickets.
King scored a brisk 46 off 50 balls, featuring nine boundaries, before becoming the maiden Test wicket for left-arm spinner Ali Usman, who reduced West Indies to 65-2.
However, debutant Ubaid Shah and Sajid could not prevent West Indies from regaining momentum.
Hope, along with Justin Greaves, continued to frustrate the Pakistani bowlers as West Indies built a strong position heading into the final session.
