Trichinolpoly, August 10: There has been a very slight rise in the Cauvery since yesterday.
The reading at the Upper Anicut which was 10.9 at nine this morning rose to 10.97, at eleven and at Trichinopoly bridge, it is now eleven feet.
The overflow at Konakarai still continues and this is due to a small breach near the toll-gate where the water from the river rushes into the Konakarai area.
Practically the whole road for about half a furlong from the Church of the St. Joseph’s College to the Fort railway station including the station compound is still under water, the volume having increased since yesterday in this and other places.
The railway District Engineer and his staff are sanding up either side of the line between the distant and home signals of the Fort railway station where water is nearer the line than at other places.
