In the run-up to the Monsoon Session of the State legislature, the JD(S) and the BJP on Sunday launched a joint padayatra against the Bidadi Township Project, which is being spearheaded by Chief Minister D.K. Kumaraswamy and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok flagged off the padayatra at Bairamangala Circle in Bidadi, Bengaluru South district. As the padayatra marks the first major joint protest by the BJP and JD(S) against the project, the issue is expected to be taken up in the Assembly during the Monsoon Session. Congress fact-finding reportMr. Kumaraswamy launched the foot march by reading excerpts from the fact-finding report on the Bidadi Township Project prepared by Congress leaders in 2006. Mr. Kumaraswamy pointed out the irony, saying that while the committee report had described the project as disastrous, the Congress itself is pursuing it now.
