Congress calls for defence of Constitution and democracy in spirit of Quit India movement

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday (August 9, 2026) urged Congress workers to draw inspiration from the historic Quit India Movement and renew their commitment to protecting the Constitution, democracy, secularism and social justice.

He said the movement united people across the country against British colonial rule and inspired millions to participate in the freedom movement.
The Quit India Movement, he said, remains a symbol of the Congress party’s historic role in securing India’s freedom and mobilising ordinary citizens in every part of the country.
The exhibition featured 1,500 Gandhi statues and 150 charkhas, symbolising Gandhi’s contribution to the freedom movement.
