Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday (August 9, 2026) paid tribute to martyrs on the 84th anniversary of the 'Quit India' Movement, saying the legacy of patriotism shown by freedom fighters continues to inspire generations. Launched by Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai, the Quit India Movement, which began on August 9, 1942, was a decisive call to end British Rule and a turning point in the country's freedom struggle. CM Fadnavis, in a post on X, said, "On August Kranti Din, we honour the countless freedom fighters whose courage and determination during the Quit India Movement strengthened India's march towards independence. Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal also paid tribute to freedom fighters in a post on X.
