A delegation of BJP leaders led by TTD Board member G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy has submitted a representation to DGP (CID and Cybercrime) Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, seeking action against individuals, religious speakers, content creators and online channels denigrating Hindu Gods and Goddesses and temples, and mocking Hindu religious practices through social media platforms. In a complaint to Mr. Ayyanar, with pen drive containing 39 video clips enclosed and their full technical details, Mr. Bhanu Prakash Reddy stated that an FIR should be registered and the matter thoroughly investigated as those were cognizable offences that attract punitive action under the laws in force. He noted that numerous videos were being uploaded and circulated on YouTube and other social media platforms against the Hindu Gods and Goddesses, Hindu religious beliefs and sentiments, customs, practices, idol worship and temples. Many of the said videos portrayed Hindu Gods and Goddesses in an abusive and humiliating manner and ridiculed Hindu mythology by using obscene and vulgar language, and by making references that were sexual in nature. Some speakers went to the extent of saying that Hindu Gods possessed no divine influence and repeatedly denigrated Hindu beliefs.
