The intensity of rain has significantly subsided in Kerala with the weakening of the active monsoon conditions. However, heavy rainfall is likely to continue in parts of the State for a couple of more days, influenced by the cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. An orange alert has been issued for seven districts – Kasaragod, Kannur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha – on Thursday, warning of very heavy rain. The other seven districts have been placed under a yellow alert for isolated heavy rain. No extreme heavy or very heavy category rain was reported anywhere in Kerala during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday (August 5).
