With his best clean and jerk at 212kg, Lovepreet finished with a total of 388kg. At the end of the snatch rounds, Lovepreet held a commanding 10kg lead over Liti, putting the former firmly in the driver’s seat for the gold medal. Liti turned the clean and jerk on its head with a performance that was at once outstanding and breathtaking. Still, it was an excellent performance by Lovepreet, who had improved from his bronze in the 2022 edition. The Indian fought till the end to provide a fitting and deserving end to the weightlifting competiton.
