The KGMOA said that the doctor had been examining a 15-year-old girl who had come with her mother, complaining of assault.
However, the KGMOA alleged that during the course of these procedures, the municipal chairperson unnecessarily intervened in the functioning of the emergency department, obstructed the doctor’s official duties, and issued him death threats.
Demanding a comprehensive investigation into the incident, the KGMOA said that ensuring a safe working environment for health-care professionals is the responsibility of the government.
It has demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the incident and legal action against the offenders under the Hospital Protection Act.
The IMA also called upon the authorities to fulfil their responsibility of providing a safe working environment for health-care professionals.
