Pediatric Electrophysiology Programme Head Dr Muhammad Mohsin said heart rhythm disorders in children are complex but largely treatable. According to Dr Mohsin, patients with rapid heart rhythms are treated through Electrophysiology (EP) Studies and Catheter Ablation—A minimally invasive procedure that eliminates abnormal electrical pathways in the heart without opening the chest. Dr Mohsin noted that awareness of pediatric cardiac rhythm disorders was extremely limited in Pakistan before 2021 but has improved considerably. He said common warning signs include poor physical growth, recurrent fainting, chest discomfort, persistent symptoms despite medication, and an increased risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
