About 10 handloom weavers in Coimbatore district received ₹4.47 lakh worth loans at an event held in Coimbatore city on Friday. Further five of them received support under the Handloom Support Scheme to buy loom equipment. The District Revenue Officer of Coimbatore, V. Surendran, inaugurated a special handloom exhibition and sale at the district Collectorate on Friday to mark the National Handloom Day. It will also improve the income of the handloom weavers. A free special health camp for weavers was organised at the Self-Help Group Federation building complex in Vadambacheri (Sulur Taluk) for the weavers.
