MANILA, Philippines (Updated 11:46 p.m.) — Six transport groups called off their plan to hold a transport strike on Monday, August 10 after the government granted a P2 increase on fuel discount subsidy.
Transport leaders declared their decision to cancel the transport strike in a meeting with the Department of Transportation on Thursday, August 6.
The leaders of the transport groups who canceled their participation in the strike, however, said the approved increase was already helpful.
The Department of Transportation said the fuel discount increase was among several measures discussed by Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez during his dialogue with transport groups before the press conference.
