Several parts of Ernakulam received heavy rainfall on Thursday (August 6, 2026) after a brief lull in the weather situation on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). The district received intense showers from the morning as the India Meteorological department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the day, warning of very heavy rain. A review meeting convened by Anwar Sadath, Aluva MLA, assessed the emergency preparedness and response systems available in the region in the wake of heavy to very heavy rain. He said the required measures had been strengthened as part of the exercise. The meeting entrusted the Irrigation department to ensure proper water flow in rivers and canals.
