Pakistan hopes an agreement over the Strait of Hormuz will lead to the United States and Iran resuming talks under a memorandum of understanding Islamabad helped mediate, Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said on Thursday (August 6, 2026).

Israel reported on Thursday (August 6, 2026) its first military fatalities in southern Lebanon in more than a month, after carrying out fresh strikes despite ongoing U.S.-backed talks in Rome aimed at ending hostilities.
The deaths were the first Israeli fatalities reported in southern Lebanon since June 28.
Lebanese state media said one person died and 11 were wounded in a separate Israeli strike.
