Belfast is hosting Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for the first time in its history, and the city has responded in force. According to the Belfast One Business Improvement District, footfall in Belfast's city center nearly doubled on Sunday, August 2 - the first day of the Fleadh - up 95% on the same day last year to 176,462 people. Monday brought another 165,077 visitors, a 75% jump on last year and a 126.3% increase on the previous week's footfall. Those figures were tracked by Belfast One BID cameras covering the roughly one-square-mile district around City Hall. Three official Fleadh Park and Ride sites are running shuttle buses into the city center for those looking to avoid the disruption altogether.
