Oscar winner Brenda Fricker had asked her mourners to shed "no tears" and "fill the church with laughter" at her funeral mass. The 81-year-old acting legend, who passed away on July 16 at Harold's Cross Hospice in Dublin, arranged her own funeral before she died. "She just wanted me to thank all her neighbours, everybody in Meath Street, and to name our special shops." He said Brenda wanted her funeral to be "simple and dignified," adding: "No grand display, just those she loved gathered together.
