The International Crimes Tribunal has announced verdicts in six cases of crimes against humanity committed during the student-people’s mass uprising in July-August 2024.
**First Verdict: Death Sentences for Hasina-Kamal**On November 17, 2025, International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death for crimes against humanity committed during the student-people’s mass uprising of July-August ’24.
The International Crimes Tribunal formally took cognizance of the official charges regarding the crimes against humanity committed in Chankharpul, Dhaka, in July 2024, on May 26, 2025.
This marked the initiation of the trial process for crimes against humanity committed in July-August ’24 at the International Crimes Tribunal.
The trials for crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising, including disappearances and extrajudicial killings during the Awami League’s rule, are still ongoing in two International Crimes Tribunals.
