More than 130 Ukrainians living in six Cork centres have been given notice to vacate their State accommodation by October. The department will be ending contracts in accommodation centres “it no longer requires”, while some providers may also choose to end their contracts themselves. Nationally, 86 accommodation centres affecting 1,578 residents are due for their State contracts to end shortly, with nearly 45% of the people affected in Munster, where there are 33 centres, and 691 residents affected. This include some 264 people in 18 Kerry centres, 221 in four Clare centres, 39 in two Waterford centres and 31 in three Tipperary centres. Meanwhile, more than 500 Ukrainian residents living at the Trabolgan Holiday Village in East Cork are “still waiting” for news of when they will have to vacate the premises.
