MLA for Mangaluru City North Y. Bharat Shetty on Wednesday sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of 400 veterinary officers by the Karnataka State Public Service Commission (KPSC). The CBI probe should also cover alleged favouritism shown by suspended KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa S. Sahukar to his family members in the recruitment process for government employment. Mr. Shetty said that the CBI should also probe alleged irregularities in the examination conducted by the KPSC for the recruitment of Class B Assistant Directors of Land Records. He said that the government has failed to conduct recruitment for the government job vacancies in a fair and transparent manner. The MLA said that the State government is weakening public universities by not releasing funds.
