The complainant alleged that the group recorded private videos of him and demanded ₹8 lakh, threatening to circulate the footage if he failed to pay. According to the complaint, the youth, a resident of Kozhikode, travelled to Bengaluru on July 24 to meet a friend and stayed at the latter's flat. He alleged that the group recorded videos of him without his consent and sent the footage to his family members. According to the complaint, the gang later demanded ₹8 lakh and threatened to release more videos if the money was not paid. Preliminary inquiries indicated that all the suspects were from Kozhikode district and that the motive behind the alleged abduction could be established soon.
