Advocate Stefanie Fick, director of the accountability division of Outa, told Moneyweb on Tuesday its biggest problem with the rollout was that the Aarto Appeal Tribunal had not been appointed “but apparently it has”.
She said Outa was informed that Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy had appointed the members of the Appeal Tribunal last year.
Outa had asked the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) many times if the Appeals Tribunal had been appointed but was only given information about the appointment once it launched its urgent application.
“We still think there should have been a bigger public participation process on the regulations, and the names of the Appeal Tribunal members should be open to public scrutiny.”
If submitted via email, they must be accompanied by the Aarto 10A application form and proof of payment of the R200 application fee.
