The very organisations funded to fight environmental degradation have built a quiet culture of intellectual theft, one that is choking the genuine innovation the country desperately needs. Too many of the people running these organisations are not climate professionals driven by ecological conviction. They launch "green challenges" on social media that generate a burst of hashtags and change nothing. Backed by donor money, established networks and administrative muscle, these organisations copy the idea almost exactly: the name, the design, sometimes even the language. An ecosystem where ideas are stolen rather than supported will, sooner or later, stop producing new ideas at all.
