Olympic medalist and recently crowned Commonwealth Games gold medalist Mirabai Chanu expressed thrill at having achieved a hat-trick of gold medals in the CWG, recalling the difficulties she faced leading up to the tournament, ranging from injuries to weight management. Chanu solidified her legacy as one of India's all-time great weightlifters with her third CWG gold at Glasgow in the 48 kg, after gold medals in 48 kg in the 2018 edition and 49 kg in the 2022 edition at Birmingham. "I am thrilled with this third gold medal at the Commonwealth Games; I faced many challenges, ranging from physical issues and training hurdles to injuries. Having faced all of that and brought home a gold medal for India feels like a massive accomplishment. India finished fourth in the medals table at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze.
