The Alluri Sitarama Raju district administration on Monday initiated the process of nominating representatives from tribal organisations to a proposed High-Power Committee that the State government has decided to constitute on tribal issues. At a district-level meeting held at the Collectorate, representatives of tribal organisations proposed the names of retired IAS officer Baburao Naidu and legal adviser Kobba Srinivas for inclusion in the committee. The proposed committee follows a decision taken at an earlier meeting chaired by Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani. It is proposed to comprise IAS officers, legal experts and representatives of tribal organisations. The meeting was attended by Joint Collector Tirumani Sripooja, Project Officer, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Aditya Varma, Additional Superintendent of Police Shruthi, and representatives of tribal organisations and employees’ unions.
