‘Arpan Kendras’ launched at 5 Delhi metro stations to donate old clothes

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday inaugurated an ‘Arpan Kendra’, a donation centre for old clothes, at Punjabi Bagh West metro station with an aim to promote sustainable waste management and a circular economy in the national capital.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Arpan Kendras are being set up at 10 major metro stations.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Delhi Metro Ladies Welfare Organisation, aims to collect, reuse, recycle and upcycle old clothes.
As part of the first phase of the initiative, Arpan Kendras were launched on Monday at five metro stations: Shalimar Bagh, Punjabi Bagh West, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Shahdara and Rohini West.
She said a truly developed society is built when waste is transformed into a resource and development goes hand in hand with nature conservation.
